I am not your friend

Below is the full text of the email John McCain sent me today (bolding is mine).

My Friends,

Throughout this election season, I've been reminded of the Yogi Berra quote, "It ain't over till it's over." My friends, I'm telling you today, this election is not over and we need everyone's hard work in the coming days to be victorious.

Voters in every state in the nation are energized and ready to win. But the Obama-Biden Democrats and their friends in the biased media want you to believe that it is over.

They are flooding every media market with television ads, radio ads and even 30-minute infomercials in an attempt to convince voters they are ready to lead. And frankly, voters aren't convinced.

Instead, the polls are tightening in important races across the country and it's now up to us to continue getting our message to undecided voters and elect our ticket from top to bottom* next Tuesday.

Will you make an emergency donation of $25 or more today to our election efforts in important races across the country?

The Obama-Biden Democrats have a plan to "spread the wealth around" by raising your taxes in order to cut checks from the government for thousands of dollars to those who pay no income taxes at all. This is a handout of your tax dollars in what will amount to a new federal welfare program.

And if they take over the White House and hold or expand Congressional majorities, there's nothing stopping them. Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will get right to work, raising your taxes, allowing government bureaucrats to make healthcare decisions for your family and immediately withdrawing from Iraq causing unknown chaos in the Middle East.

And it's up to us to take the message of their real plans for America straight to every undecided voter. By making an immediate donation of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more to McCain-Palin Victory 2008, you will help fund our final ad buys of the campaign to make our case.

At a time when our economy is suffering, the last thing we will do is raise your taxes. We want to bring tax relief to hard working Americans. Unfortunately, those on the left are running false advertisements wrongfully claiming we'll tax healthcare and that's simply not true.

I'm asking for your financial support today to help us respond to attacks against our entire ticket. Any amount you can afford to give today will go a long way in helping our team in the final days leading up to Election Day.
