Mixed messages, part two

First Radiohead, now this? I want to hate big business. I want to hate
the model. But it's just so convenient. And now promotes independent
films? (that also make a lot of money)

Get your chapers on!

Disposable is not sustainable

At the doctor's office, in the waiting room. There's a TV broadcasting "accentHealth"--your guide to healthy living.

Well, they just had a short piece about how reducing the clutter in your life will make everything else better. And advises regular anti-bacterial cleaning. To which the lady host of the show comments, "I don't know why they just don't make EVERYTHING disposable."

What?

Sighted on the ground in the mall parking lot, next to a giant SUV.
A bad parker and a litterbug, it would appear.

The May Fire

music video for an old friend's band, The May Fire, in San Francisco. Old friend as in grade school, not as in senior citizen.

Old friend's band should consider an east coast/rocky mountain tour.

Scooter woes

Have decided latest 125cc scooter upgrade is too bottom-heavy. And too fast. Tried to take it back to the local scooter store but they refused.

"You don't buy an Acura and turn it in for a Honda," they tell me.

You do if you don't feel safe in the Acura and the dealership is a neighborhood shop that values your business, I reply.

I advertised my scooter for sale on Craigslist, but somebody flagged it for removal a mere 20 minutes after posting. What the hell? Can't a girl sell her scooter? I just want my 50cc orange buddy back!

fitter, happier, more productive.

In Rainbows, now available at your local Starbucks.

Also, I ran out of coffee so what was a solid sixth month stint in making my own coffee ended with a four dollar vanilla latte. "That'll be four dollars," she exclaims to me with even numbered glee.

Also, the reason why I had to go into the store instead of the drive-through was because it was too cold to roll down my windows, on account of the freeze. I need to go back to Costa Rica. Where it's warm. And the coffee is fantastic.

a journalist walks into a baseball game and...

...is ejected because he's live blogging? The NCAA claims they own the game until it's over. Go higher education! That's the spirit.

"Once a player hits a home run, that's a fact. It's on TV. Everybody sees it. [The NCAA] can't copyright that fact."

false advertising

My one photo from the Bright Eyes show last Saturday at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, before I walked out after four songs, completely bored. The whole thing was hugely pretentious and maybe, maybe appropriate for somebody who, say, had 2 or 3 decades of arena performances under the belt. conor's an indie baby. but in his white stayin' alive suit and jackassy jaunt, he was more of a self-important douche.

conor: i hear some of you missed your prom for this show. so let's dance to this next one. c'mon everybody, let's dance.

did he even go to his prom? get off me. I so much wish I had gone to Electric Six instead.
